Gigi Hadid welcomed her first child, a daughter named Khai Hadid Malik, with ex Zayn Malik in September 2020. Even though Gigi and Zayn split following the former One Direction singer’s alleged dispute with her mom, Yolanda Hadid, in October 2021, the two remain committed to co-parenting Khai.
“They are not together right now. They are both good parents though,” a friend of the Hadid family told People at the time of their breakup. “They co-parent. Yolanda [Hadid] is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.”
For the most part, Gigi keeps Khai out of the spotlight, only sharing a few occasional glimpses of the little one on social media. In January 2023, Gigi documented her beach vacation with Khai on Instagram; “celebrated the new year w a lil r&r 🐚,” the model captioned the series of photos.
Back in September 2022, Gigi raved about her daughter while promoting her new knitwear line, Guest in Residence, on “Sunday Today With Willie Geist.” “I think she’s a genius,” Hadid said of Khai. “But I think that’s what everyone says about their kid. It’s so much fun. The more that she talks and understands and remembers, it just gets more and more fun. And she’s a blessing.”
